Morse Road Phase 2 – Karl Road to Cleveland Avenue

Overview:

Project limits: Morse Road between Karl Road and Cleveland Avenue.

Description: New sidewalks, marked bike lanes, landscaped medians, street trees, and upgraded storm sewers, street lights and traffic signals are in store for the 1.2 mile stretch of Morse Road between Karl Road and Cleveland Avenue.  Morse Road Phase 2 was designed to spur redevelopment of the Northland corridor, promote pedestrian and bicycle safety and improve drainage. It is identical in scope to the $12 million Phase 1 streetscape project completed two years ago on Morse Road between Indianola Avenue and Karl.

Improvements:

  • Landscaped medians, trees and other plantings
  • Sidewalks
  • Curbs and gutters, including Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
  • Improved traffic signals
  • Smooth, repaved road surface
  • Bicycle lanes
  • Street lighting
  • Improved storm-sewer system

Construction cost: Total Cost:  $14 million

Traffic will be maintained on Morse Road. Expect some short-term closures or restrictions on Morse in the project area. The project is expected to start in August 2008 and be completed by summer 2010.
